Our Treasure Cottage Story
Hidden Gems, Big Impact

We call our very first thrift store “Treasure Cottage” because we carefully sort, select, and respectfully present every item in the store. As you wander through the beautiful, scenic Steveston Village in Richmond, perhaps lingering near the famous fish and chips shops, you’ll discover treasures and something for everyone when you step into our store, located in a charming 1950s retro building.

For over three decades, our thrift store has been serving the local community, with all net proceeds supporting generations of foster children. Operated mostly by an incredible group of dedicated volunteers, we offer a wide variety of quality thrifted goods at great value. Additionally, the store recruits high school students to provide them with their first work experience. Through government funding, we’ve also hired many university students and young adults, helping them develop leadership skills in a collaborative environment. 

As a small charity store in a vibrant tourist community, we’ve built meaningful connections with countless kind-hearted donors, supportive shoppers, and dedicated volunteers. Together, we’ve made a significant impact—not only on the lives of children in our village but also on the environment and climate through our commitment to recycling, reusing, and reducing.
