Child and Client Protection Policies and Procedures
A CARING AND PROTECTIVE ENVIRONMENT
SBS Children’s Villages BC is committed to creating and maintaining a caring and protective environment for children. Every one of us has the responsibility to protect children from all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence and discrimination. This has always been at the centre of SBS Children’s Villages work around the globe.
Every child has the right to quality education, participation, non-discrimination and develop to his or her full potential. Yet, every child is potentially at risk of abuse and exploitation. Some girls or boys may be more vulnerable to this, due to various forms of discrimination and marginalization relating to their socio-economic status, gender, disability, ethnicity, sexuality, or living situation.
“Violence is not allowed.”
“You have rights – and this includes the right to say ‘No’.”
OUR CHILD PROTECTION POLICY
Our child protection policy is binding for all Directors, Staff, and Volunteers of SBS Children’s Village BC. Be it within or outside of our organization, it guides us to always respond to any case of proven, alleged or attempted abuse, within our sphere of influence and according to its nature.
“Listen to children: pay attention to possible signs of abuse; take your responsibility and be there for them when they need your support!”
ATTENTION TO PREVENTION AND RESPONSE TO CHILD ABUSE
The SBS Children’s Villages’ child protection policy gives specific attention to prevention and response to child abuse within our programs. Internal mechanisms are in place to raise awareness, to assist in prevention, including training and counselling of staff, to encourage reporting of cases and to ease response.
